What to Use for Snake Catching
A snake on your property is a risk to you. It can bite and nest, and cause a load of problems that you do not want. Venomous or not, snakes are an issue you have to deal with immediately.
Dealing with snakes usually means catching them. This might seem like a difficult concept at first, especially if you have no experience with this, but there are some easy and readily available methods of doing so.
Throughout every method, remember to practice safety first and foremost. Snakes can, and will, attack if they fear for their lives. Do not put yourself in a situation where you can come out hurt and in a bad condition, or potentially even hospitalized. Be smart about this and wear the proper protective gear, follow all guidelines for products, and do what is best for you.
Snake Traps
There are tons of snake traps out there. The kinds you can buy from stores and online are, most often, glue traps. They come pre-scented and ready to go, and are highly effective. Usually, these are for smaller snakes, but may work on medium-sized snakes, as well. Look at the packaging to see what types of snakes you can catch with them. They will often say the size requirement.
There are other ways to trap a snake, though. You can make homemade traps or you minnow traps. Several alternative options exist on the market, all with varying effectiveness and reliability.
Many of them do work, and may even catch larger snakes for you. The only caveat is that you will usually have to put them together yourself. It is not a ton of work, but it is some effort to do.
Physically Catching a Snake
You can use your hands or another object to catch the snake. If using your hands, make sure you know whether the snake is venomous. No matter how safe you are, you do not want to put yourself in a situation where a venomous snake is within range to bite you.
You can use bags and sheets, or use sticks or capture poles. Plenty of products are out there that can do the trick for you.
You may face some difficulties when doing these methods, but they can work when done well.
Catching a snake is not impossible. There are a few options available to you, both with traps and physical capture. Choose the one that best works for you and implement it properly for best results.
